Last night saw the start of another mini-tour of Europe with a great show at Shepherds Bush Empire in London. What a great venue and crew!
In 1960 around this date, Brian Hyland released Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini. Great song. We represent this song on behalf of Music Sales.
We have signed an agreement with Wonderlous, am independent publisher based in New York. Thanks Phil.
Rough Trade will be opening a fourth store soon. This one in Nottingham, UK. These stores are like a step back in time with retail assistants who know what they are talking about, and a great feel in the stores. Good news!!
In 1980, on this day Joe Jackson was the special guest of Bob Marley at Crystal Palace Park in London. Great show. Marley was, as usual, incredible. It was very special to be a part of that day.
On this day in 1969, Blind Faith performed a free show in Hyde Park in London. It was great to hear Clapton really playing. Blind Faith were Clapton, Steve Winwood and Ginger Baker. I was not so keen on the drum solos..
I have been in the glorious cities of Madrid and Barcelona during this past week. I have had great meetings with our publishers: SEEMSA, Music Sales and Bonatarda. Great publishers and people. Television played at Primavera festival in Barcelona. Excellent show.
Finally, Spotify has arrived in Brazil. I hope it is successful, and can generate more income for our writers and catalogues.
District 6 have signed a lovely catalogue, Sterns Music. They specialise in African and Brazilian music. Sterns had a record store just off Tottenham Court Road in London where I, and many other like-minded music people, would go and listen to and buy previously unheard-of African records. Great place!
We signed an agreement with PRotasis Music. They are a large independent publisher from Greece. Thanks to Nikos, and thanks to Ali from Median for the recommendation.
Mawaca play 2 shows in Sao Paulo this weekend.
